Energy Transfer is a teacher professional development workshop offered to licensed kindergarten teachers or those on the path to licensure. It focuses on engaging students in STEM based activities through play and exploration and covers Standard 3 Objective 1 of the Kindergarten Science core curriculum- Movement of Non-Living Things.

Teachers are encouraged to choose one, two or all three of hour hour-long modules: Observation Tubes, Bee Bots, and The Story. After completing a module, teachers will receive materials for use in the classroom.

The Energy Transfer workshop also acts as a forum for teachers to discuss their successes and difficulties in engaging students with the science core curriculum.

The workshop is free for public school teachers and is held at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum at 444 W 100 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 in the Kem and Carolyn Gardner Theater on floor +2. School districts more than two hours away from the museum may request this program be presented in their area and we will do our best to accommodate.

USBE credit will be available through MIDAS or certificates will be provided at the end of the workshop.

Utah State Legislature funds Energy Transfer with oversight by the Utah State Board of Education through the Informal Science Education Enhancement (iSEE) grant.
