4:30 PM  –  7:30 PM

Chain Reaction is a teacher professional development workshop offered to licensed 5th grade teachers or those on the path to licensure. It covers Strand 5.2 of the fifth grade Utah SEEd Standards and offers training in engaging students in scientific inquiry and demonstrating scientific principles through experimentation and captivating presentation.

The Chain Reaction workshop also acts as a forum for teachers to discuss their successes and difficulties in engaging students with the science core curriculum.

Furthermore, participating educators also receive a binder of lesson plans and ideas as well as a kit of chemicals and supplies worth approximately $250. You must be present for the entire workshop to receive the kit and supplies are not available to attendees who do not register beforehand.

The workshop is free for public school teachers. For school districts more than two hours away from the museum may request this program be presented in their area and we will do our best to accommodate.

USBE credit will be available through MIDAS or certificates will be provided at the end of the workshop.

Utah State Legislature funds Chain Reaction with oversight by the Utah State Board of Education through the Informal Science Education Enhancement (iSEE) grant.
